The Phizz unit torus happens to be one of the most stunning, yet challenging, modular origami pieces I have done yet. It has 360 total units and took me a few months to complete. Once complete though, the design itself is surprisingly rigid and is really fun to look at and hold.

Typography Wallpapers: September 2010
by Joey Hernandez on Wednesday, September 1st, 2010
Desktop wallpapers are a great way to show one’s personality, whether it’s at home or at work. A clean, organized workspace includes a clean and in some cases, inspiring wallpaper. I’m also a big fan of typography. Almost any font used the right way can become a work of art.
Star Wars Prints: Andy Helms
by Joey Hernandez on Tuesday, August 31st, 2010
A great set of Star Wars-themed art prints has been released by artist, Andy Helms.
I am a fan of his consistent design across all three pieces. Each of the pieces illustrating an epic scene from the movies.
Netflix for iPhone and iPod Touch
by Chaunce Dolan on Saturday, August 28th, 2010
A couple months back, Netflix released an app for the iPad. It allows users to watch videos from their Instant queue or from Categories over WIFI. If you haven’t tried it already, you really need to, its awesome.
Well, now Netflix has released an app for the iPhone and iPod Touch that has similar abilities. You can watch videos over WIFI, or also 3G for iPhone users. Watching movies on 3G seemed to have some lag issues though. Users can also fast-forward and rewind the video. When users stop the video and they want to start watching it again, the video stream starts off where it stopped. Users can also update their queue by adding new movies while browsing titles.
Getting the Most Out of Your Android Phone’s Battery
by Joey Hernandez on Friday, August 27th, 2010
So you have a powerful Android-based phone. It can check your email, play movies, browse the web, and keep you up-to-date with your social networks. However, if your battery runs out, your phone simply turns into an expensive paperweight.
Google’s Co-founder Larry Page says this about the battery life on Android phones: “If you are not getting a day, there is something wrong.”
Star Wars Print: “Great Warrior”
by Joey Hernandez on Thursday, August 26th, 2010
Mondo Tees has teamed up with Lucasfilm LTD to work on an official series of screen printed Star Wars posters. Art by Dan McCarthy, Dave Kinsey, and my personal favorite by Tomer Hanuka, have already been released.
The newest print in the series is from Todd Slater. Titled “Great Warrior,” it is a beautiful collage made up of various flora all coming together to create the well-known face of Yoda.
Call Phones From Gmail
by Chaunce Dolan on Wednesday, August 25th, 2010
Gmail’s voice video chat allowed users to call each other as long as they were both at their computers at the same time. Not any longer. Now you can call anyone’s phone directly from Gmail.
Calls to US and Canada will be free through the rest of the year (not sure if it will increase later). Other international calls are fairly cheap, some as little as $0.02 a minute.
