I unlocked it with 10 check-ins while I was at a conference last month. I think it unlocks the same way the Overshare badge does, with at least 10 check-ins in 12 hours.

A lot of the badges were changed last month. The test was done on a blank account and it took way more than it originally took me to unlock this badge. Many badges that used to unlock with 5 checkins now take 5 days and some have increased the number of check ins.

I just got this badge over the weekend by checking in at TEN spots on campus. I don't know whether or not it used to be 25 spots, but I can confirm unconditionally that it only took ten checkins, and I made them and received the badge all in one day.

Edit: I went back and looked at my history to make sure, and within a four-hour period, I unlocked my "Back to School" badge on the first checkin on campus, and unlocked the "Campus Explorer" badge on my 11th checkin.

(My daughter got her "Back to School" badge on her first checkin and received her "Campus Explorer" badge on her 10th checkin, also within four hours. Not sure what the story is with the discrepancy between my 11th checkin and her 10th checkin getting the badge, but it's definitely no longer 25 checkins for "Campus Explorer.")
