MTV says that "Record Stores" will count as well. ("Follow MTV on foursquare by clicking the 'Follow' button above, and then check-in from ANY music venue or record store") I have not yet had a chance to confirm this yet.

Concert Hall, Music Venue, Building and it didn't unlock. I'm already following MTV...

a venue with the main category "Rock Club" will not unlock this badge, i got it at a jazz club...

@Bogd1n For some reason some venues will not unlock this badge. But all categorys listed above have been tested and I did unlock the badge at each one of them more then once. Also this badge will unlock with only one checkin.

The contest to get free tickets to the VMA's ended today. The badge will be unlockabe thru the VMA awards. That tweet was just to remind people that the contest was ending.
