Didn't work for me, either... but I have seen the badge on some people's profiles. Just be patient... the more people that unlock it, the more info we'll all get on it.

Seeing all that on twitter now that you've mentioned this, @DvD. 4sq is incredibly irritating with the stuff they do. I'm going to leave it active as these are usually temporary hiccups.

Nevermind my first reply to you. Apparently, this must be done on different days. I checked in at science museums and planetariums yesterday, didn't unlock. But I just checked in again today at same categories and unlocked.

Are the unlocks done with mobile or is it a "real" checkin? Anyone that unlocked already, can you tell us which method was used?

i used a normal checkin with mobile to unlock..

There was a one hour time period that the badge was unlocking. Everyone who unlocked it did so during that one hour. It'll start unlocking again soon. Usually, this happens 1-2 days prior to the actual day the badge was supposed to actually start unlocking. Be patient with it... it'll come back soon.
