LEGO’s Comeback Due to Licensing {Infograph}

With the recent success of The LEGO Movie, one may wonder how LEGO came back from their financial struggles of the late 90’s and early 2000’s. The short answer, licensing.

Wired created this infograph showing how LEGO’s revenue has increased over the past 6 years. One can assume that their licensed sets have dramatically affected that growth. While the infograph doesn’t say what percentage the licensed products make of their total income, I would think it’s pretty substantial.

One of my favorite stats from the infograph is the one about their Star Wars licensed line. They have over 400 licensed sets and the total cost to purchase all of them would be over $14,000.
