Official Harmonix Video About Rock Band 3 Leaks

Harmonix is aware that the “leaks” that were out there, originated from a video that showed them scrolling through the music library. They even ripped on one of the sites that I used yesterday as a source. I find this video to be hilarious in how it is staged. They set up this video to have someone scrolling through the library while they gave their statement, to recreate the original scenario. John Drake states during the video:

“We are communication professionals, we would never make a mistake and accidentally leak 83 songs well before our game comes out totally by accident because we weren’t paying attention during an interview…”

It is difficult to determine if they are being completely serious. The statement seems to be very tongue-in-cheek, almost laughing at the situation. All the while, they are scrolling very deliberately through the library on the screen. Are they trying to show us a better angle at what songs will be available? Did they realize that the only way to move on from the situation is to laugh at the mistake they made? Or are they to be taken at their word that everything is strategized and there have not been any unintentional, truthful “leaks.”

At this point there are 38 confirmed songs, and many rumors on others. I’m looking forward to the confirmation of the remaining songs, as well as any more that they might eventually release on the DLC store. It is a shame that John Drake referred to sites showing excitement for the game as “terrible websites.” But I am a huge fan, and I think the Rock Band series of video games is transcending the video game and music industries. I am anxious for more “confirmed” information as we get closer to the October release date.
