Save Someones Vision With Solo Eyewear

Combining bamboo and plastic, Solo Eyewear is fabricating a cool pair of sunglasses. A grass root startup that is humble and loyal, the company is on a mission to give back to their community while providing stylish eye wear. For every pair of sunglasses purchased from Solo Eyewear, they will let you choose whether you want to provide a pair of subscription glasses to someone in need, or help with eye sight saving surgery. They have helped more than 1,000 people to date.
While a student at San Diego State University, I got involved with the Entrepreneurial and Management Center on campus. I was exposed to some amazing mentors, put in challenging situations, and even given the chance to sit in on investment pitches. Now, to me, that’s exciting stuff. In addition, I got to meet some passionate student entrepreneurs who possessed a drive to build something significant. One student started a protein smoothie kiosk that was strategically placed outside of the gym. Right place, right time. He is now in the process of expanding to multiple campuses. Another student began a branded sorority sandals company, and they donate back to the chapter for every pair bought. I was also fortunate to meet and be in class with the student who started Solo Eyewear.
With a great product and a vision to give back, Solo Eyewear is using Kickstarter to help continue fund their growth. For the last nine months, they’ve worked hard crafting their Summer Collection to be launched in June of 2012. The new sunglasses have an awesome organic feel. Due to vast improvements, they could only afford half the cost of production and launched a kickstarter project to raise the other half. During the project, a potential partner reached out requesting to place SOLOs in stores across the East Coast. In order to work with someone this size, they now need 30k to increase their current shipment (they are currently at $26,000 with 24 hours to go in their campaign). If this happens they will be able to go full-time and help more people, faster than anticipated.
The name Solo derives from the idea that everyone has the ability to change the world.
Every day people can make one choice, one decision, one action that can create a positive ripple effect much larger than they will ever know.
They are great people with a great cause. Please check out their videos, pledge, or share the project.
